Thought it might intrest you
@Dan -- I think you're right. I've pre-arranged to go climbing this weekend during Sabbath.
you mentioned in your original post about looking things up on google maps ahead of time, but i'm worried this might be considered bending the rules. i'd recommend purchasing a muni map (http://www.sfmta.com/cms/mmaps/indxmaps.htm) or a walking/bicycling map (http://www.sfbike.org/?store_resources, free with sfbc membership!) to find your way around. one or both of these were always in my bag before the iphone existed.
i would be in favor of making this a group activity, planning ahead to meet at the park and play frisbee or ride bicycles or something. or playing scrabble.
I totally need a bicycle. I've been putting off buying one because I don't know much about bikes, and I don't want to spend much money. (Mission bicycles look soooo pretty, but they're too spendy for me.)
Frisbee/bicycling/scrabble all sound fun! Want to take a sabbath this Saturday or next?
they are pretty - but you can def. get a pretty decent ride for less. and something with gears (gasp!). spring is here, this is the season! valencia cyclery seems to be pretty popular - tony got a last-season-road-bicycle on sale there last summer. i also like pedal revolution and box dog bikes - both non-profit! and there's always craigslist (just make sure you're getting the right size - but bike shop will help you with that).
i'm going to be out of town on the 22nd so i'd be down for this weekend. if you're climbing at mission cliffs, stop by before/after (i live pretty close)... we've got a couple extra bikes, we'll go for a ride!
